Using mixed media on a scrapbook layout | Petra Kortekaas

Mixed media is not as scary as you think! I also doesn't have to be all wet and messy... In this layout I created a mixed media look without any hassle.

I fuzzy cut the butterflies from the Simple Stories Vintage Spring collection and traced them on white cardstock so I could create a mixed media half. I simply used a black ball point pen and double traced the line for a slightly messy look.

Then I picked Distress Oxides that matched the colours of the butterflies. Simply softly blended the inks in the drawn butterflies.

After that I created some splatters (be sure to cover up the rest of the page to avoid "wandering" splatters). I use my matching Oxide sprays, but I don't have them all, so I also put some ink down on a craft mat (or use a piece of packing plastic... something smooth) and spray some water to create a little puddle of splatter-material!

I simply blended around the edges on the right side of the butterflies to create a bit of depth.

I fuzzy cut some flowers and matching butterflies. The Lovable title was perfect for this photo, in the best pink there is! The March Fox Box is certainly one of my favs! Although... I say that every month hahaha.

I wanted to create some more intrest on the right side, so I used the torn edge template to tear some papers and place them on the side. Makes tearing paper so much easier!

So no worries about mixed media! It can be done, you simply have to find a way that suits you.

I hope you like it, let me know and if you need any tips and tricks, we are happy to help in our Facebook group!

xoxo
