Outdoor Adventures Scrapbook Layout - Wendy Meffan

The Outdoor Adventures perspextive from the March shop products felt like the perfect fit for telling this story. This scrapbook layout documents a brilliant day of fresh air, muddy boots, and big smiles as my daughter and her boyfriend climbed a Welsh mountain with friends. It’s one of those days that feels important to capture – not just for the views, but for the shared effort, laughter, and sense of achievement that comes with reaching the top together.

I started the page with an old Ordnance Survey map as the background. The aged details and contour lines add instant authenticity and perfectly reflect the physical journey of the climb. A map background always feels right for outdoor adventures, quietly grounding the story in a real place and landscape.

Multiple photos were essential for this layout. From setting off at the start of the walk, to pauses along the route and the sense of accomplishment near the top, the photos help the story unfold naturally. Layering several images gives the page movement and brings the experience to life.

I added chipboard geo tags to reinforce the mapping and navigation theme, tucking them in near the photos to highlight key moments of the climb. Wooden elements from the Outdoor Elements set for March, including boots, walkers, and trees, were scattered around the layout to echo the physical act of hiking and the natural surroundings. The wood texture adds warmth and a tactile quality that works beautifully with the map background.

To soften the map and introduce some creative contrast, I used the cute grid flower stencil #137 from Fox Box Plus to create some floral details. After stencilling, I fussy cut a few flowers and tucked them across the page. This adds texture and a handmade feel, balancing the rugged outdoor theme with something a little gentler and more expressive.

For colour and finishing touches, I used pieces from the 49 and Market Everywhere collection. The earthy tones tie everything together, creating a layout that celebrates adventure, friendship, and the joy of climbing together, one step at a time.
