Feeding the Ducks Scrapbook layout | Julie Taylor

I’m always a fan of a Perspextive title that can do the hard work for you, and the new Feeding the Ducks piece is just perfect for documenting those simple, everyday moments! I’ve teamed it with a lovely mixed media printed background paper, which already had plenty of interest, so I only needed to add a little ink here and there to bring everything together.

For the design, I decided to create an L shaped arrangment, running down the left-hand side of the page and then across the bottom towards the right. I love how this gives the page a strong structure while still leaving plenty of the background visible.

I added lots of different paper strips vertically along the left edge, then started tucking in all sorts of little pieces of ephemera. Tags, frames, leaves, tickets and other assorted bits and pieces were layered together to create lots of texture and interest. Don’t be afraid to mix and match your embellishments – sometimes the most unexpected combinations work brilliantly!

My two photos were placed one above the other, sitting neatly within the design, while the Feeding the Ducks Perspextive was positioned over to the right. This helps to complete the L shape and draws your eye around the whole page.

To add a little extra warmth, I included the two wooden sunflower pieces from the September Fox Box. They are such a lovely finishing touch and work beautifully with the natural feel of the page. And, of course, those cute little geese and ducks add a playful touch that I couldn’t resist!

I love how this layout has come together – lots of layers, plenty of little details and a fun title that perfectly captures the moment.
