Today I’m sharing a layout created with the Photo of the Day perspextive from the May FoxBox, documenting one of my favourite travel memories — a photo of myself with a flamingo on Renaissance Island in Aruba.

I chose a vertical design for this page, using a wide strip and two thin strips, along with a torn piece of patterned paper to form the main background. The vertical stripes help draw the eye down the layout and highlight the tall format of the single photo. To add a little contrast and definition, I included subtle pops of black using thin black strips which helps ground the design while still keeping the tropical feel of the page.
My photo is framed with a Vicki Boutin Irresistible frame which adds texture and a soft layered detail around the picture. I also included a Vicki Boutin irresistible film strip the photo and backed it with vellum. The vellum softens the look of the film strip while still allowing the detail to show through.

I kept the mixed media fairly light, adding a little texture and interest without overwhelming the page. Some gentle stamping was added around the inside edges of the vertical stripes to bring more detail to the background. I also added stamping behind the perspextive to the left of the photo which helps anchor that area of the layout.

To embellish the page, I created three clusters using die cut palm leaves and flowers along with some elements from Paper Snips #089. These tropical elements work perfectly with the flamingo theme and help bring the island feel of the photo onto the page.
To finish the layout, I added three gorgeous flamingo perspextives, placing one in each cluster. They tie everything together beautifully and perfectly capture the fun tropical memory from Renaissance Island.
