Nothing captures the excitement of festival season quite like a page bursting with colour, music and happy memories. For this layout, I wanted to create a vibrant design that reflected the energy of a summer festival while showcasing some of my favourite photos from an unforgettable weekend.

The focal point of the page is the beautiful Festival Vibes Perspective from Bramble Fox https://www.bramblefox.co.uk/new-products?page=2, paired with the gorgeous Discover + Create collection by Vicki Boutin. Together, they create a playful, mixed-media inspired layout full of texture, dimension and movement.

1. Building the Festival Background

I started with a clean white cardstock background to allow the bright colours to shine. To add interest without overwhelming the page, I used Stencil #144 in Distress Oxide Faded Jeans and Stencil #143 in Distress Oxide Fossilised Amber then added subtle ink splatters across the background, creating a soft mixed-media effect that echoes the carefree atmosphere of a music festival.

Behind the photographs, I layered patterned papers from the Discover + Create collection. The bold navy, sunshine yellow and vibrant teal papers provide strong contrast while drawing your eye towards the centre of the layout.

A strip of colourful paper along the bottom of the page helps ground the design and introduces even more festival-inspired colour.

2. Colour Palette Inspired by Summer Festivals

The colour combination is one of my favourite aspects of this page.

I focused on:

Sunshine Yellow for warmth and happiness
Denim & Navy Blue for depth
Bright Teal for freshness
White to keep the page light and balanced
Pops of Black in the embellishments for contrast

These colours perfectly complement the Festival Vibes Perspective, helping the title become the focal point while reflecting the fun, energetic feel of live music and summer adventures.

3. Creating Texture with Layers and Embellishments

Texture plays a huge role in bringing this layout to life.

I layered multiple patterned papers behind the photographs, varying the heights and angles to create movement across the page. The oversized floral embellishments soften the geometric paper layers while adding plenty of dimension.

Music note embellishments reinforce the festival theme, while fun accessories like the headphones and sunglasses add playful details that help tell the story.

Using foam adhesive beneath some of the flowers and embellishments creates extra depth, making the layout feel full of life without appearing overcrowded.

4. Telling the Story Through Photos

This page combines black-and-white and colour photographs to create contrast and guide the viewer's eye around the design.

The larger black-and-white photos become the main focal points, allowing the colourful papers and embellishments to really stand out. Along the bottom, a row of smaller colour photographs captures all those little festival moments—from rides and selfies to relaxing between performances and family fun.

The handwritten journaling finishes the page beautifully, documenting the memories behind the photos while keeping the storytelling personal and authentic.

5. Final Details That Bring the Layout Together

To complete the design, I added the striking Festival Vibes Perspective from Bramble Fox as the central title, allowing it to overlap both the photographs and embellishments for extra dimension.

Clusters of flowers are repeated around the page to create visual balance, while the music notes help carry the eye across the layout, giving the impression of movement and rhythm.

The finished page is bright, layered and full of personality—perfectly capturing the excitement, friendship and unforgettable memories of a festival weekend.

Whether you're documenting concerts, summer events or family festivals, this combination of bold colours, layered papers and eye-catching acrylic titles is a fantastic way to preserve those special moments.
