Live, Love, Laugh: A Colorful Layered Scrapbook Layout | Debbi Tehrani

This colourful Bramble Fox scrapbook layout features the stellar Live, Love, Laugh title from the Autumn Adventure pack, coordinating star Perspextives and playful stencilling using the starburst stencil from the November Fox Box Plus. I wanted to capture the fun and happiness of this lovely group photo with a design that felt just as lively as the people in it! The photo became the starting point for my colour choices, and I decided to build the page around a playful combination of teal, coral, sunshine yellow and aqua. I love how these colours work together to create a fresh, upbeat feel, while the mix of patterned papers, stitching and embellishments gives the page plenty of personality. With a bold title, layered papers and those fun Bramble Fox details, this layout is all about celebrating time spent together and the memories that make us smile. I always scrap in an 8 x 8 format, so you may notice that Bramble Fox products look a little larger on my layouts than they would on a 12 x 12 page—which makes all those gorgeous details really stand out!

A Stellar Title Takes Center Stage

For the composition, I had the idea of building the layout in a sort of pyramid shape, with the Live, Love, Laugh title as the crowning glory above the fun photo. I wanted the eye to travel naturally from the title down to the photograph, with the clusters and layered details helping to create balance and bring the whole design together.

The title itself is such a lovely statement piece. I adore the teal colour, whimsical lettering and little stars, so I wanted to give it room to shine. To add a little extra energy, I used the starburst stencil from the November Fox Box Plus to create coral bursts behind the title and in the background. The subtle stencilling adds interest to the white space without competing with the title.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: Think about the overall shape you want your layout to create. A triangle or pyramid arrangement can help guide the eye towards your main focal point while keeping all those lovely embellishments feeling connected.

Scraps, Stitching and a Splash of Colour

To bring my colour scheme together, I used three strips of patterned paper in sunshine yellow, tomato red, and aqua, adding narrow teal cardstock strips and a scalloped border for extra definition. Machine stitching adds lovely texture and helps tie the layers together, while using scraps of patterned paper is a great way to bring in lots of colour without overwhelming the page.

I also created a little cluster at the bottom of the layout to help anchor the design and balance the other embellishment clusters around the photo. The layered details, stitching and mix of patterns all work together to lead the eye around the page while keeping the photograph as the main focus.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: Don’t overlook those little scraps! Narrow strips of patterned paper, a scalloped edge and a bit of stitching can add so much texture and interest. Repeating colours in different areas of your layout also helps everything feel connected.

A Clip, a Tear and a Touch of Flair

I wanted the left side of the photo to have a little extra personality, so I created a playful cluster using a coral speech-bubble piece, a wooden bird, a layered teal star and a touch of yellow washi tape. The starburst stencil continues behind this cluster, tying it into the rest of the design and helping the embellishments feel like part of the overall composition rather than separate additions.

To add another little detail, I tucked a torn piece of coral crosshatch paper beside the photo, layering it with the yellow washi tape. I love how these narrow pieces peek out from behind the photo mat, adding colour and texture without taking up too much space. The red heart-shaped paper clip also adds a sweet finishing touch while helping fill some of the white space within the photograph.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: Don't overlook the small spaces around your photo! Narrow strips of patterned paper, washi tape and tiny embellishments can add depth and interest without overwhelming the main image. Try tucking pieces behind your photo mat so that just a little of each layer peeks out.

Hearts, Stars and Happy Little Extras

On the right side of the photo, I added more layers using coordinating cardstock, a torn piece of aqua patterned paper and a small label tucked behind the mat. I also included a little heart from my Bramble Fox heart Perspextives stash, because I nearly always find a way to add hearts to the layouts I give away! The yellow smiley-face ribbon tab brings in another playful pop of colour, while the teal star Perspextives on either side of the photo help create a visual triangle with the title and guide the eye around the page.

I finished the design with a few small stamped stars in yellow and some subtle stamped phrases, including “Together” and “Good Times.” These little details echo the theme of the title and help fill the open areas without making the page feel too busy.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: Repeating colours and shapes in different areas of your layout is a simple way to create balance. Stars, hearts and small word embellishments can help connect separate clusters and encourage the eye to move around the page. And when you think you're finished, try stepping away overnight and taking another look with fresh eyes the next day—you might discover that one tiny detail is all that's needed!

Live It, Love It, Scrap It!

I love how this layout came together! The combination of bright colours, layered patterned papers, machine stitching and playful Bramble Fox Perspextives gives the page so much energy, while the starburst stencilling helps tie the title and photo together. The little details—from the heart-shaped paper clip and smiley tab to the stamped stars and wooden birds—make it feel personal and full of fun.
