Using stripes in my background is a go to technique for me, it adds impact without being complicated. For this layout I used strips of patterned paper cut to 1.5 inch thick & placed them at a 45 degree angle. If you choose to do the same you will find that some of the strips will not be long enough to cover the page, fear not, just cut them in half & hide the gap behind your photo, no one will ever know.
