New York City Scrapbook Layout - Wendy Meffan

I wanted to create a scrapbook layout that captured the excitement, energy and iconic sights of New York City, and this page was the perfect opportunity to bring together some of my favourite photos and supplies.

For my title, I used the Bramble Fox New York City Title Perspextive, along with the New York Skyline from the Bramble Fox September products. These pieces provided the perfect starting point for my page and immediately established the New York theme.

One of the main features of the layout is a large apple that I drew and cut from red paper from the Carta Bella New York City Collection. The bold red apple adds a strong pop of colour and is a fun nod to New York’s famous “Big Apple” nickname. I positioned it as a key element on the page to help draw the eye into the design.

To create the cityscape, I used a large city skyline stencil with several shades of blue Distress Oxides. Blending the different blues through the stencil created lots of depth and texture, giving the impression of the towering New York buildings. I really enjoyed watching the skyline come to life and it makes a great backdrop for the photographs. I addded a strip of four photographs featuring some of my favourite places we went to, and then added the New York Sky Line perspextive over the top.

Finally, I added a few pieces of ephemera from the collection, arranging them vertically down the stencilled buildings. This helped tie all the different elements together while adding extra detail and interest to the skyline.

I love how the finished layout combines photographs, colour, texture and New York-inspired embellishments to create a fun record of a memorable day exploring the city.
