December Memories | Julie Taylor

This Christmas scrapbook page came together as a celebration of texture, layers, and treasured moments. I started the design by adding vertical strips of patterned paper down the page, instantly giving the layout a strong sense of direction and movement. To soften the look and add extra interest, I ripped and gently curled the right-hand edges of the strips. This small detail adds dimension and a slightly playful, imperfect feel that I love in Christmas projects.

Over on the right-hand side, I tucked in a delicate doily along with a mix of tags and chipboard pieces. Layering these elements together created a cozy, handmade cluster that draws the eye and balances the busier patterned paper. Each piece adds its own texture, from the smooth chipboard to the soft, lacy doily.
I added a bit of stencilling, over on the left, to add some colour & softness & hand sewed along the edge of the paper.

I placed my two photos at the bottom of the paper strips, grounding the design and giving the story a clear focal point. Around the photos, I embellished freely using tags, chipboard accents, die cuts, and brads. These little details help frame the photos without overwhelming them and give the layout plenty of festive charm.

To anchor the theme, I added a large “December” perspextive title vertically along the patterned strips. This bold element ties the whole page together and reinforces the Christmas feel. I then added the word “memories” using puffy alphas, which bring a fun pop of dimension and softness to the page.

To finish everything off, I made a few paper rosettes and scattered them around the photos. They add a whimsical, celebratory touch and echo the joy captured in these holiday memories.

Thanks for joining me today.
Until next time,
