Fav Photo || A Father's Day Page || Kathy McElfresh
As this post is published on Father's Day this year I chose one of my son's favorite photos with his youngest back in the old days when she was always happy to smile for the camera! It's a perfect photo because it's the same age as my "old" supplies on the page!
This month's challenge is SUCH a fun one! It gave me a wonderful opportunity to stash dive and to combine old and new and that lovely blue! Who doesn't have older stash they'd like to get onto a page and how much fun is it to combine with some newer items to freshen up your look?
I have several "old" items on my page including the Fancy Pants envelopes that I've used instead of patterned paper. These envelopes came in different sizes and I've mixed sizes and collections here. Also of the same 2013 vintage are the chipboard button and banner from My Mind's Eye. And one of the "new" items is the gorgeous rainbow woodie that was included as a gift in one of my Bramble Fox deliveries! There are so many cute woodies in the shop now and if you're lucky you might see this little rainbow there someday soon!
The color scheme for the whole page came from this striking title piece from the May Fox Box and the cork-patterned envelope that was exactly the right size to display it. The x's are from my stash, left over from two different holiday sets. I used them where I might have used hearts or stars to extend the vertical and horizontal lines of my "backwards L" design.
I arranged the frames and envelopes to fit within my design (inspired by a Lisa Sikorski sketch from Scrap a Sketch) and decided I wanted an arrow to bridge the gap between the title and my photo. I had a few choices in my stash of Perspextives but I really wanted one that would stand out and repeat some of the black elements I had among the blue and Kraft colors. The Paper Snips #25 that came in the May Fox Box + had this perfect arrow! I could probably use 10 of these sheets of the most versatile photography-themed images and phrases to go along with the cute cameras in the Fox Box!
I love the blue title SO much and that set came with the cutest little blue and pink cameras! And wouldn't you know I had ONE blue fabric heart left in my stash that was a perfect match! I added the word strip "original" from Paper Snips #9 because this little girl is just that!
So I think I've met all the challenge requirements:
Something old: envelopes & chipboard embellishments (and that photo!)
Something new: rainbow woodie & stickers from the June Mind the Scrap kit
Something Bramble Fox: title, camera, fabric heart, woodie, x's, Paper Snips
Something blue: title, envelopes, camera, heart, flowers, button and glittery circle
I hope you'll try your hand at this fun challenge and pop your page into the album on our Facebook Page for a chance to win a sweet prize to spend in the shop! There are SO many new goodies in the shop -- lots to tempt and inspire you!
