This layout tells the story of an unforgettable Halloween in New Orleans, where the magic was all about painting our faces, dressing up, and soaking in the atmosphere of the city. To capture the energy and fun, I used the Simple Stories Spooky Things collection paired with the bold October “Fright Night” perspextive as my title. The mix of vibrant patterns and eerie icons worked perfectly for showcasing the festive mood.

For the foundation, I layered torn papers down the left side of the page to create texture and add a distressed, spooky edge, giving the page dimension and visual interest. Over these layers, I added machine stitching to emphasize the texture and give a handmade, slightly grungy touch that echoed the creative vibe of our costumes and face paint.

The multiple photos were matted on layered tags, which not only helped highlight each snapshot but also tied in with the playful, interactive feel of the collection. The tags brought pops of pattern and colour behind the photos while keeping the focus on the memories themselves.

The title, “Fright Night” perspextive, was placed prominently to anchor the page, its bold design standing out against the layered background. Around the photos and title, I tucked in small Halloween embellishments from the October shop— bats, and stars—scattered in clusters to draw the eye across the layout. Some were layered flat, while others overlapped the photos for a more dynamic look.

Altogether, the mix of torn edges, stitching, layered tags, and tiny embellishments created a layout that feels textured, fun, and full of movement. It perfectly reflects the excitement of Halloween night in New Orleans—costumes, laughter, and a city alive with spooky spirit.
