Stunning Sunsets with Paula Davis

There is something magical about summer evenings as the sun dips low painting the sky in streaks of orange and gold. This is the heart of summer, watching the sunset over the sea creates memorable moments to treasure.

We have captured some beautiful sunsets during our holiday in Menorca recently. I really wanted to immortalise the setting sun and a cut file is perfect for the job. I cut out the Summer Palm Wreath on my Brother Scan n Cut machine in white cardstock. I then inked half of the word Summer in Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide.
To create the stunning 'sun', I inked Salvaged Patina, Dried Marigold & Squeezed lemonade in a circle onto white card to make the effect of a sunset and then used a Bramble Fox circle template to cut out.

To add even more detail, I inked through stencil #18 to form sunrays and then placed the cut out circle on the background and inking around the centre using Salvaged Patina
The palm trees are included in the cut file so I coloured them using Bundled Sage and Walnut Stain before layering over the cut file.

To create the pretty tropical flowers, I stencil #123 onto white cardstock. The stencil includes layered elements so I was able to ink darker petals with lighter pink centres. I cut out the flowers and leaves creating 2 clusters.

I couldn't resist layering the new large Memories title with the cut file. They are so impactful but without being overpowering.
I love how this turned out and not piece of patterned paper in sight! All the embellishments were hand made making the most of my stencils!
I hope I've inspired you to stretch your supplies with stencils and inks too! Thanks for stopping by
Paula
