Stuck?! Sketches | Guest Designer Laura Whitaker

We have teamed up with the lovely Stuck?! Sketches challenge blog this month. We're extremely lucky to have the host - Laura Whitaker guest design for us this month too! She has been playing with a few goodies to complete the 1st December sketch.

Hello! My name is Laura Whitaker; I live in Ontario, Canada in a tiny lakeside community with my husband and our youngest son. Our family consists of three sons, a beautiful daughter-in-law, a sweet little grandson, and two bulldogs; whom all feature heavily in my scrapbook layouts. My passion for scrapbooking and papercrafting began about fifteen years ago and is still going strong!

Through scrapbooking, I feel I can accomplish two things; a family memory album (or many) and gain an outlet for my creative side. I love that this is such a social hobby and feel blessed to have made many friends through scrapbooking. I love layers of patterned papers, embellishments of any type, creating sketches and playing with my Silhouette software. I am thrilled to be guesting design here at Bramble Fox, I love Morag’s product line and was thrilled to get to play with it! I look forward to sharing another creation with you here soon, too! You can find my blog here: http://scrappinaroundtheclock.blogspot.com/

For my layout, I opted to design with a lot of white space. It is making me so happy lately to create this way. The photo also has a lot of white space, so I think the design works well with it. I also opted for a bit of a unique colour scheme, choosing red, pink and turquoise. We don't often see red and pink together but I think they can complement each other depending on how they are used.

I pulled out the "love" perspective and "currently" flair from the Bramble Fox goodies that I received and dug through my scraps to pull a few coordinating, of sorts, papers. I also pulled in some other random embellishments and a couple of die cut and vellum backed flowers that I had leftover from another project. I liked how romantic they felt with this photo.

After making some layers of various shapes and sizes and tucking in some embellishments here and there, I adhered the "love" perspective and then added some stitching. A little mist and my page was done. I love how airy it looks and the pops of red with the pink and gold are so different for me and I really love them!

I've created a process video for my layout - I hope you enjoy it!

We want to thank Laura for being so inspirational and for her amazing challenge blog.

Why not take part yourself? It's a great way to get your creative juices flowing and be in with a chance of winning £25 to spend!
