'Life' with process video | Niki Rowland

Hi everyone, this is Niki here with you today. I have really enjoyed using the September Fox Box so far and in particular loved the set of Perspextives with the word 'Life' and the three silver words 'hello', 'sweet' and 'good'.

I started off by choosing a paper that I had had in my stash for a while and was determined to get used. It's by Heidi Swapp Color Fresh collection and it was black and white with a giant colourful chevron on it. I decided to make a feature of that chevron and therefore trimmed around it and also added stitching around it. I slotted some white cardstock underneath it so that it now sits proud on my layout.

I added some mixed media behind where my photo was going to sit. I wanted the chevron to point at the photo. I used paint colours that I picked out from the patterned paper. I also used some silver paint, to go with the words 'hello', 'sweet' and 'good'.
I was worried that the white word 'life' wouldn't show up well against my mixed media, so I backed it first onto pink patterned paper. This gave the letters a solid infill and this word was therefore easy to incorporate into my layout.

As 'hello' 'sweet' and 'good' all went perfectly with my photo, I decided to use all three of these words on this layout. I love the silver colour so much and it went so perfectly with my black and white photo.

I hope you have enjoyed my layout today - check out the process video below to see exactly how I made it.
