Cherish these Days Scrapbook layout -Wendy Meffan

I can't believe we 're using the January 2026 Fox Box already! But here we are and I'm still documenting August 2024!

The August bank holiday is always one of my favourite long weekends, and this year we decided to make the most of it with a family day out to the Isle of Wight.

There’s something wonderfully nostalgic about hopping on the ferry, feeling the breeze, and watching the mainland drift away as the island’s soft, rolling cliffs come into view. We’d planned a relaxed lunch and a slow-paced wander—nothing fancy, just time together, which sometimes feels like the rarest treat of all.

Back at home, I knew these memories needed a layout that felt just as warm and easygoing as the day itself. I reached for a Hip Kit Club kit, drawn instantly to a gorgeous patterned background filled with dome-like shapes. To give it extra depth, I carefully cut into the edges of several domes, lifting them gently to create soft shadows and tactile dimension.

The layered effect added movement to the page, echoing the breezy, open feel of the island.

I continued that subtle approach by working with tone-on-tone embellishments, choosing pieces that blended with each section of the background rather than competing against it. This created a beautifully cohesive look—calm, coordinated, and full of gentle detail. Little clusters around the photos highlighted the smiles, the shared lunch, and those in-between moments that often end up being the most meaningful.

To finish the layout, I added the perfect title from the January Fox Box 2026: “Cherish These Days.” It summed up everything I felt—gratitude for family time, the simplicity of being together, and the reminder that these ordinary adventures are often the ones that stay with us the longest.

A day out, a hovercraft ride, a lunch by the sea—nothing extraordinary, yet absolutely unforgettable. These are the days worth cherishing indeed.
