Follow the Trails - Scrapbook Layout - Wendy Meffan

The inspiration for this layout came from the Follow the Trails perspextive available in the March products now! It felt like the ideal storytelling base for a day spent quite literally following a trail – the Snoopy trail that winds its way through the Fleet Street quarter in London. It captures one of those perfectly ordinary yet utterly magical travel days – wandering around London with Kirei and Morag, no tight schedule, just good company and a map full of possibilities.

I chose to document the day using multiple photos arranged in four horizontal strips across the page. This format works beautifully for travel layouts, allowing lots of little moments to shine without overcrowding the design. Each strip feels like a step along the journey, giving the page a lovely sense of movement and rhythm as your eye travels from left to right. The Follow the Trails worked perfectly at the end of the photo strip.

The background began with a large street map stencil, layered softly so it adds texture and location without stealing focus. Maps always ground a travel page for me, instantly placing the memory. Over this, I added the London silhouette stencil #94 by Bramble Fox, which anchors the layout and immediately sets the scene.

To enhance the sense of adventure, I included a few older travel Perspextives – a car, a tag, and several word arrow phrases – placed along the photo strips. These elements help guide the eye around the page and reinforce the idea of following routes, signs, and spontaneous decisions throughout the day. An extra title perspextive reading Make Great Memories sits proudly on the page, perfectly summing up the heart of the story.

The colour palette comes from Paige Evans’ Adventurous collection, adding a playful, upbeat feel that mirrors the joy of exploring together. This layout is a celebration of friendship, wandering, and discovering London one trail at a time.
