Joy, Sparkle, Twinkle | Julie Taylor

There’s something about festive layouts that brings out the most creative “play,” and this page using the festive word perspextive pack was definitely one of those projects. I wanted the overall design to feel bright, energetic, and fun, so I chose a star layout as the foundation. From there, the rest of the elements just fell into place.

I created a narrow column of paper strips along the left side of the page. Mixing widths, patterns, and tones gave the column plenty of interest & then I added in die cut stars in the same tones, which I laid over the paper strips & towards the right.

On the opposite side, I brought in some softer detail using stencil #19. A light sweep of ink added texture and depth to the right side, helping the entire page feel more cohesive. I love how the stenciling adds drama to the right hand side—it’s just enough to give the eye something extra to explore.

Hand stitching has become one of my favourite ways to elevate a layout, so I added a series of stitched accents to emphasize the star shape and bring extra dimension. The texture of the thread always adds a handmade warmth that you just can’t achieve any other way.

And then—the best part—the sparkly new gold and silver mini stars! They were the perfect finishing touch. I scattered them around the stencilling & stitching, letting them catch the light and add that festive shimmer that makes the whole page feel celebratory.

I added the Festive Words over the die cut stars, around the photos & tucked in a couple of perspextive presents, from the presents & candycanes pack.

Altogether, this layout combines structure, texture, sparkle, and a little Christmas magic.
