12 x 12 Layout Using Stitching | Photograph WOW | Julie Taylor

I love sewing on a layout, it gives it that extra wow factor. Do you ever just see scrapbooking stash & know what you're going to do with it straight away? That happened to me when I saw the new stencil #83, out the December Fox Box Plus. Straight away I thought inking & cutting shapes to make embellishments & so began this page.

layout with sewing

I've been on holiday recently & while there took a helicopter flight over & into the Grand Canyon, which was just amazing!!! & needed a page to document this. I started by inking up some white cardstock, in different oxide inks, & then stencilling over the top, in the same colours, to give a tone on tone effect & I drew around the stencilling with a grey fine liner pen to make it stand out.

I cut the cardstock up into triangles & made 3 columns, going up & down my page. I machine stitched into place.

This gave me a base to add my 2 photo clusters on the left & right. I first added a bit of stamping using Fox stamps #4 Splatters, these give you great control if you like the look of splatters but don't want the mess or random placement of using wet inks. They go exactly where you want them!!! a perfect stamp to have in your stash.

I kept my photo clusters fairly simple as the photos themselves & the inked triangles were the star of this page.

The title piece comes out the November Fox Box, which is geared towards Christmas & winter, but as you can see can easily be used for other occasions like I have here.

I added a few Bramblefox arrows & clippies, out my stash, to finish the page.

I hope you'll try out this stencilling technique, the possibilities are endless.

Thanks for joining me today.

Until next time,
