Back to School Scrapbook Layout: "School is Cool"

There’s something so satisfying about capturing those first day at school memories with a layout that’s both playful and polished. For this project, I started with a base of white cardstock, trimmed neatly down to 10 x10 inches. This smaller square gives the page a clean focal point and allows the patterned paper to frame it beautifully. Once the cardstock was in place, I stitched around the edges with my sewing machine for a soft, handmade finish. The stitching adds texture and a subtle border that really ties everything together.

At the bottom of the layout, I placed the bold School is Cool XL perspextive piece—it instantly draws the eye and anchors the entire design & backing the open areas added a pop of colour. Beneath it, I layered a few patterned paper strips to create a base that grounds the composition. This mix of textures and colours adds depth without overwhelming the central design.

From the title, the photos & ephemera flow upwards creating a vertical movement that naturally guides the viewer’s gaze. I love this direction—it mimics the feeling of growth and energy that comes with a new school year. Around the photos, I tucked in little details like tags, pencils and embellishments that capture the everyday moments of student life.

To finish, I added several of the School Elements mini perspextives, nestling them among the layers. These smaller acrylic pieces—pencils, books, apples, and more—enhance the theme perfectly while adding pops of color and dimension.

The finished page feels vibrant, layered, and full of back-to-school excitement. It’s a wonderful reminder that with just a few thoughtful elements—stitching, layering, and a standout Perspextive title—you can create a layout that’s both meaningful and eye-catching.
School really is cool when you can document it in style!
