Today was Awesome - Hen Do Layout by Julie Taylor

Today was Awesome 💕

This scrapbook layout just had to have the Awesom title because it truly captures the spirit of the day—my daughter’s hen do, filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable moments.

I started by layering an 8x8" piece of patterned paper right in the centre of another coordinating patterned background. To give it that extra handmade feel, I machine sewed all the way around the edge—one of my favourite techniques to add texture and detail.

From there, I created a large cascading cluster down the left side of the 8x8 panel. I call them flowers, but they’re really a mix of different sized circles, each one distressed and layered to give that soft, dimensional, floral effect. I love how they turned out—playful and a little bit whimsical! I tucked in a few lace flowers for added softness, along with word strips and some sweet wooden heart buttons for a touch of warmth and personality.

My two photos are placed slightly angled and layered one above the other, which adds movement and keeps the eye flowing across the page. Around them, I added a few tabs for extra interest and to help frame the memories.

Finally, my title sits proudly on top of some ephemera, overlapping the bottom photo and extending to the right—bringing everything together and anchoring the whole design.

This page makes me smile every time I look at it… such an awesome day, captured in a way that feels just as special 💖
