Photo of the Day: A Bright & Playful Scrapbook Layout |

Bursting with color and charm, this bright and playful scrapbook layout highlights a joyful “photo of the day” moment using layered techniques and beautiful Bramble Fox embellishments from the May Fox Box Plus. I used several elements from the kit, including that fun, dimensional title, wood hearts, Paper Snips, and the lovely stencil. The cheerful papers from Echo Park’s Day in the Life collection coordinate beautifully with the items in the Fox Box, making it easy to create a cohesive and eye-catching page. And just a little note—because I scrapbook in an 8x8 format, the products can appear a bit larger and more impactful on my layouts!

Title Talk: Bold, Bright & Full of Personality

One of my favorite features on this layout is the bold, colorful title. The beautiful coral shade really pops against the softer background, and I love how the two playful fonts work together to create a fun, modern look. I also incorporated the etched wood heart from the Fox Box, which adds warmth and a natural texture that balances the brighter elements perfectly.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: Mix fonts in your titles to add personality—pairing a bold block font with a script or playful style creates instant visual interest. Bramble Fox often does this with their titles, making the work easy for us!

Layered Foundations: Stitching, Stenciling & Sweet Details

I started my layout by using the lovely stencil included in the Fox Box Plus to create a soft, textured background. From there, I stitched strips of patterned paper, cutting fishtail banner shapes at the bottom for added movement. Once I decided on the photo and title placement, I began building clusters using flowers, cameras, and butterflies, fussy-cut from the Echo Park papers. I tucked in Paper Snip elements for extra layers. In this cluster, I added a word strip and a circular embellishment, topped with an epoxy sticker to create a touch of shiny flair. I also added a brad to the camera’s lens, which is such a fun way to bring a little extra dimension and realism to the piece.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: Take your embellishments a step further by adding dimensional elements—like brads, enamel dots, or epoxy stickers—to flat pieces. It’s an easy way to customize your design and add extra interest and texture.

Framing the Moment with Heart

To highlight my photo, I used a polaroid-style frame diecut from an older Bramble Fox die as a layer behind the photo. I also tucked a label from the Paper Snips at the top of the photo for added detail. Since I always love to include hearts on layouts I give away, I searched my stash for the perfect match and added a coral heart to tie in with the title. Of course, I included the wood hearts from the Fox Box as well—those little touches bring everything together so sweetly.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: Don’t be afraid to mix old and new supplies—pulling from your stash can help you perfectly match colors and add meaningful, personal touches.

Butterfly Balance & Beautiful Repetition

In this cluster, I echoed the design from the left side by adding another word strip and flair from the Paper Snips, along with a wooden heart for continuity. The butterflies were fussy cut from the Echo Park papers, and I adhered the bodies with glue dots while adding pop dots under the wings to give them lift and dimension.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: Repeating key elements (like hearts, word strips, or butterflies) across your layout helps guide the eye and creates a balanced, cohesive design.

Let It Flutter: Adding Movement & Whimsy

To bring a sense of movement to the page, I used a pen with the Butterfly Trails Stencil #67 to trace delicate trails behind the butterflies. This simple technique adds a playful, whimsical feel and helps connect the clusters visually across the layout as well as add movement.

One of my favorite parts of the process actually came after I thought I was finished. I like to let my layouts sit overnight before calling them done, and when I came back to this one, I realized it needed just a little something extra. That’s when I added the green Nuvo drops near my clusters and drew in the butterfly trails—those final touches really brought everything together and added just the right amount of movement and color.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: Before calling a layout finished, let it sit overnight and come back with fresh eyes. You’ll often spot little opportunities—like adding Nuvo drops, stitching, or subtle details—that take your page from good to truly complete.

This layout truly captures a “photo of the day” kind of moment—full of joy, color, and sweet details that make memories feel alive. I love how the florals, butterflies, and hearts all come together to create a soft, happy vibe that complements the photo perfectly. If you haven't yet subscribed to the Fox Box, now's a perfect time. And be sure to check out all the beautiful new products in the Bramble Fox shop—they’re full of possibilities for your next project!

Until next time… keep your creativity fluttering and your memories blooming.
