Believe in the Magic of Christmas: A 3-Photo Scrapbook Layout | Debbi Tehrani

There’s something truly enchanting about turning holiday memories into pages filled with sparkle, whimsy, and a touch of magic! For this festive layout, I used the beautiful “Believe” title from the Festive Words Pack, some sweet gifts from the Presents & Candy Canes Pack, stars from the Blue Cool Stars Pack, and the fabulous stencil from the December Fox Box Plus.

I scrap 8 x 8 layouts, so Bramble Fox products tend to appear a bit larger on my pages — which I absolutely love because it makes them the star of the show! I also used a Bramble Fox sketch as inspiration for my page design.

Creating a Magical Background

The “Believe” title immediately caught my eye with its beautiful, fanciful script — it feels just right for capturing that sense of holiday wonder! I started my page by using the December Fox Box stencil and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide to create a soft background that added both magic and movement and matched the beautiful title. The whimsical pattern perfectly complemented the mint and red tones in the Merry Day collection by Mintay. The contrast between the cool mint title and warm Christmas hues really helps the page pop!

Sweet Details

I created many of my embellishments by fussy-cutting elements from patterned papers, then layering them with Paper Snips and Perspextives to give them depth and texture. It's such a satisfying and economical way to make custom embellishments that perfectly match your page!

I also tucked in the sweet etched Present Perspextives from Bramble Fox among my clusters for a pop of translucent shine. Because I love adding hearts to the layouts I give away, I included a tiny mint heart from the Cool Hearts Pack on one of the gifts. I mixed in word strips from some older Paper Snip collections too, which coordinated beautifully with the Bramble Fox colors. I included a Film Strip Border in dark teal to coordinate with my grand-niece’s dress and to tie in the darker teal Perspextives. The darker shade adds just the right amount of contrast and grounds all the lighter mint tones.

A Second Reindeer for Whimsy

My first reindeer felt a little lonely, so I decided to add a second reindeer facing the opposite direction. This created a sweet sense of playfulness, almost like they’re prancing through the page together. The mirrored placement helps frame the photo area and adds movement that keeps your eye dancing across the design.

Balancing the Clusters

At the bottom, I created a cluster featuring a pink translucent Present topped with an etched bow. I stamped the “magical moments” sentiment as an afterthought and later decided to soften it with tiny punched sprigs and white splatters resembling falling snow. Those little sprigs helped camouflage the stamping and added another dimension without overwhelming the layout.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: I rarely call a layout finished the same day I complete it. Letting it sit overnight gives me fresh eyes to notice what it still needs. In this case, I realized my layout needed a touch more sparkle — so I added a scattering of shimmery pearls among the embellishment clusters, and it truly completed the page!

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip (bonus!): When you have a stamping or paint “oops,” try covering or blending it with embellishments — no one will ever know, and it adds even more texture!

Santa Makes an Entrance

At the bottom of my page, I featured a large vintage Santa that instantly draws your eye. I love how his rosy cheeks and red suit echo the festive reds scattered throughout the layout. I tucked him in so that it looks like he’s peeking out from the cluster, almost as if he’s part of the scene — ready to deliver presents to the children in the photos.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: When using large fussy-cut images, try tucking part of the image behind layers. It helps integrate it into the design and gives the illusion of depth rather than having it float on top.

A Smaller Santa for Balance

To bring harmony to the design, I added a smaller Santa at the top of the page near the photos. He mirrors the larger Santa at the bottom and helps lead the viewer’s eye diagonally through the layout. Again, I placed him so that he's looking into the page instead of out of it. I placed a single star and some pearls beside him to echo the sparkle scattered throughout the page and to tie him in with the overall festive feel.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: When repeating a motif (like two Santas), vary their size or placement to create visual interest while maintaining balance across the page.

Creating this layout filled me with that nostalgic, cozy Christmas feeling — full of sparkle, soft shimmer, and the magic of believing.
