Daily Life | A Farm-Themed Scrapbook Layout | Debbi Tehrani

This cheerful, heartwarming, texture-filled 8x8 farm-inspired scrapbook layout uses products from the March Fox Box Plus — including Paper Snips, background stenciling, and dimensional embellishments — to beautifully document everyday life. Created in my signature 8x8 format (which I exclusively scrap in!), the smaller page size allows the products to feel slightly larger and more impactful — something I love for creating bold focal points and layered detail.

Everything you see on the page is Bramble Fox product, except for a couple of papers and stamps from my stash. I wanted the overall feel to be playful, cozy, and full of charm — just like the photos of pets, farm animals, and those sweet everyday moments.

A Title That Tells the Story

The “Daily Life” title was absolutely perfect for documenting such a big part of my friend’s daughter’s everyday world — pets, farm animals, cuddles, and outdoor adventures. The critters in the Paper Snips tied everything together beautifully. I love when embellishments directly echo what’s happening in the photos — it makes the storytelling feel cohesive and intentional.

To help the mint Perspextive title and hearts (from the Cool Hearts pack) feel grounded, I added a teal border to the photos and the paper strips. This acts as a subtle variation of the title color so the mint doesn’t feel isolated or floating on the page. Repeating that tone in various spots on the layout helps visually connect everything together.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: When using a bold or lighter-colored title, repeat that color somewhere else on the page — in a border, embellishment, or small accent — so it feels intentional and balanced rather than isolated.

Building a Warm & Textured Foundation

I started my layout by creating a soft background using the stencil from the Fox Box Plus on cream-colored cardstock. I typically use white backgrounds, but this time I chose cream to add warmth and complement the farm theme. For the stenciling, I used a gold Fossilized Amber Distress Ink, which subtly ties together the yellow flowers in the little flower pot and the ducks’ bills. That soft golden tone adds warmth without overpowering the page, and it helps carry the color story across the layout in a really natural way.

The Paper Snips include several tabs, which I tucked behind the three photos to add layers without bulk. I always add hearts to my pages — they give warmth and emotion — and here I layered a mint heart from the Cool Hearts pack over one of the hearts from the Paper Snips to match the title and create a visual triangle across the page.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: If you normally use white cardstock, try switching to cream for softer themes. It instantly changes the mood of the layout while still feeling neutral. 💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: When choosing stencil ink, look for a shade that connects smaller details in your embellishments. Even subtle color repetition (like golden yellows) can quietly unify your entire design.

Barnyard Balance & Textural Charm

The adorable critters from the Paper Snips add so much charm to this page. I tore the patterned paper to introduce softness and texture — straight lines can sometimes feel too structured for playful themes like this.

I also wanted to create a little barnyard scene along the bottom of the layout to balance the heavier elements at the top. To ground the critters so they weren’t “floating,” I added smaller paper strips in patterns that matched the papers used above. Repeating those papers helps visually connect the top and bottom of the page while giving the animals a place to “stand.”

The border was created with Film Strip Borders Fox Dies #20, and I stitched the papers down to give the layout that homespun, cozy feel. The phrase strips are from Vintage Sentiments Snips 055 — one of my favorite paper snips sets ever. With over 100 versatile phrases, it’s perfect for virtually any topic.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: When placing embellishments like animals or people, give them something to “stand” on. Grounding elements with strips of coordinating paper prevents that floating look and instantly adds balance.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: Look for ways to contrast structure and softness — try pairing clean die-cut borders with torn edges for added visual interest.

Creating Balance with Embellishment Clusters

I had already used all of the animal-themed elements from the Paper Snips, but I wanted another embellishment cluster on the left side for balance. The sweet flowerpot from the Paper Snips was perfect. I added a bow for extra detail and tucked it into the corner to anchor the photo.

One tip I always love to share is to leave your layout overnight before calling it finished. When I came back to this one, I realized it needed a little extra something — so I added enamel dots in colors that matched the layout. They brought additional pops of color and a touch of shine.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: If something feels “almost done,” walk away. Fresh eyes the next day often reveal exactly what’s missing.

Dimension Makes It Delightful

Here’s a closer look at those adorable ducks — and seriously, how cute are the little boots?! I elevated all of the Paper Snip embellishments on my layout using pop dots to give them dimension and subtle shadows.

Adding height makes embellishments feel more dynamic and helps separate layers visually, especially on smaller formats like 8x8 where space is limited. Another detail I added after letting the layout sit overnight was stamped sentiments in a color that tied in with the reddish patterned paper and the hearts. That small color echo helped strengthen the palette and made the design feel more cohesive overall.

💡 Debbi’s Design Tip: Even slight dimension can dramatically change the look of a layout. Pop dots are one of the easiest ways to elevate your design — literally!

This 8x8 farm-inspired scrapbook layout is such a sweet reminder that everyday life is worth documenting. The cuddles, the animals, the muddy boots, the sunshine — these ordinary moments are the ones that become the most treasured memories over time.
