OCTOBER SCRAPBOOK LAYOUT CHALLENGE/ VIK CRIPPS

Welcome to this months scrapbook challenge! From time to time I love to add some mixed media onto my layouts, I love the freedom and individuality it can give to your page! This months challenge is all about getting those hands messy and just enjoying the process to create a layout individual to you!

Although autumn has almost arrived I'm still holding onto some of my summer memories and getting them onto my pages - I absolutely loved the blue/purple tones in these photos taken at a local lavender field so scrapping these photos was an easy choice for me. What season do you enjoy scrapping the most? Are you looking forward to the rich colours of autumn or like me still holding onto summer for as long as possible?

The layout started off with a sheet from a Vicki Boutin's mixed media pad. I have then added some stamped distress ink hearts, blue watercolour paint and some pink Nuvo Embellishment Mousse through Bramble Fox Cut Stencil #54 Hearts for added detail and interest.

There's no better way to add mixed media on to a page than using stencils. Not only have they been used on my layout for background detail but I have also created my own floral embellishments. These have been done using Bramble Fox Cut Stencil #39 Flowers Leaves and some Tom Holtz Texture Paste. Once dry I have loosely applied some watercolour paint to the flowers so that the colours all blended together, they were then fussy cut out and placed around the photograph to help frame it. They were super fun to make and I really love the texture and depth they added to the layout. Tucked in with my flowers are some Pink Fresh Studio papers and ephemera just to help tie all the elements together.

A Bramble Fox perspective title and little hearts/tags helped to finish the page off. I always love adding the little hearts to my pages as they're perfect for those little finishing touches - what do you love adding to your pages!?!

I so hope you enjoy this challenge and enjoy getting those inks, paints and texture pastes out. Why not try creating your own embellishments using a Bramble Fox Stencil too!

Happy scrapping, Vik xx
